How long does the recipient have to redeem the gift?
The gift remains valid for 6 months from the date it is issued for the intended recipient. If it is not redeemed within that period, it automatically expires.
Will I be asked to approve the transfer?
No. Once the recipient redeems the gift and their account is approved, Sarwa processes the transfer. You will receive an email notification when the transfer is underway.
What happens if the recipient’s Sarwa account is not approved?
If the recipient’s Sarwa account is not approved, the gift becomes void and no transfer takes place. The gifted amount remains in the sender’s Sarwa account.
What if the recipient already has a Sarwa account?
Recipients with an existing, approved, and active Sarwa account can still redeem the gift. They simply need to email hello@sarwa.co with their gift code and indicate which Sarwa account they would like the funds applied to.
How long does the gifted amount need to stay in the recipient’s account?
The gifted amount must be invested by the recipient via the Sarwa platform and remain in the recipient’s Sarwa account for a minimum period of 6 months before being eligible for withdrawal.
